Thai Yoga Massage - the Lotus Palm Method

Centuries ago, a dynamic bodywork therapy based on yoga and Ayurveda was born in the temples of Thailand. In this unique healing system of Thai Yoga Massage, the practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the body's energy ("Sen") lines, and pressures points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.

Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a mat on the floor; both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease and freedom of movement and flexibility (i.e. t-shirts, exercise clothing). No oils or creams are used. The recipient is stretched at a slow rhythmic pace, while pressure is applied using palms, thumbs, elbows and feet, in a structured sequence until tension points are released. During the massage tension and fatigue flee, and the body regains flexibility.

Marg Lachmuth is a certified practitioner of Thai Yoga Massage who trained at the Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Massage School, the foremost institution in North America specializing in traditional Thai massage. Located in Montreal, Lotus Palm was founded in 1995 by Kam Thye Chow, acclaimed author of "Thai Yoga Massage" and "Thai Yoga Therapy for Your Body Type".

Yoga

Yoga, from the sanskrit "Yuj", translates into the word "union". Yoga, therefore, is a union of body and mind, of the physical and energetic, of the oneness with Spirit. Developed thousands of years ago, the science of yoga is a means to realize our true potential, regardless of age, race, sex or religious beliefs. The vision of yoga is a technique that teaches us how to be in the present moment. This new level of consciousness evolves through yogic practices aimed at developing an ever-increasing awareness of our various levels of experience.

Marg Lachmuth is a certified Yoga teacher who has practiced yoga for many years. Her Vinyasa Yoga classes integrate breath & movement, alignment & awareness, flexibility & strength in a flowing sequence of postures ranging from meditative and rejuvenating, to the challenging and empowering. Linked through the breath in a progressive, effective and creative series of postures, vinyasa yoga empowers students in an exploration of yoga which is transformative, fluid and stimulating.

Classes will provide a gentle introduction to a Vinyasa Flow yoga practice and will accommodate beginner students.
