3rd Annual West Coast Carving Workshop with Rick Wolcott (Salish descent) from Calgary, Alberta
Unwind after a day's carving with a glass of wine in the Hot Tub watching the whales, herons and ships come and go from Victoria Harbor, or just gaze at the lights of Port Angeles on Washington States’ Olympic Peninsula.

Rick learned to carve from his grandfather James Forest, at the age of 6yrs. He has carved with and learned much from many other West Coast carvers. Since 1980 he has been teaching Native carving in Calgary with the Board of Education Continuing Education, Parks and Recreation; Montana State Univ. in Bozeman MT; and John C Campbell Folk School, Brasstown NC. Rick has also taught at Rabbitstick Gathering in Idaho, at Firemaker, Comox, and at the Okanagan School of Fine Arts in Penticton.
Rick holds weekly classes in his Calgary shop and does weekend courses through Lee Valley Tools. He carves poles, masks, bent cedar boxes, paddles, decorative doors, plaques, and other regalia for himself and on commission. His commissioned pieces are currently in Europe, Mexico, USA and Canada.
